Reese Quick Tips before you start:
To move the TV screen’s location relative to your MacBook’s screen position:
- Go to System Preferences -> Displays, click on the Arrangement tab, make sure ‘Mirror Displays’ is unchecked, and click and drag the blue square without the white bar. The blue square with the white bar is your MacBook laptop screen.
To Mirror your screens:
- Go to System Preferences -> Displays, click on the Arrangement tab, make check ‘Mirror Displays’.
To get audio through your TV’s speakers with the HDMI cord attached to your TV:
- Go to Apple -> System Preferences -> Sound
- Click on the Output tab and select your TV. It should have a type of listed as ‘HDMI’. If you don’t see your TV, turn off your TV and turn it back on. Once your TV is selected the speaker icon on your MacBook’s title bar should be grayed out. If you still don’t have audio for a program or video, try the Reese Quick Tip at the top of this document.
